I am so glad that I put off reading the Throne of Glass series for so long. It has been so much fun reading a new book each month. There will be a short wait for the next one but I don't know how you all have waited for so long!

There were SO many questions at the end of Crown of Midnight. It set up a lot of anticipation for Heir of Fire. There was a lot of new information and I was so ready for all of it.

For me the best part of this series is Maas's world building skills. I am normally an all character girl. With these books I feel like the characters wouldn't be as great. A lot of their growth stems from the lives they've led in their world and now it affected them when that world was altered against their will.

Maas blends her world and her characters deftly. I have loved all of the people I am to love and despise all of the horrible people that Maas has written. Just when I thought she had showed us all she had, Maas proved me wrong.

The introduction of the Fae and witches was a great addition! Throughout Heir of Fire there are three major story arcs: Caelana in Weyndlyn, Dorian and Chaol at the glass castle, and Manon and the witch covens in the Ferian Gap. Not once through this 565 page book did I feel bored with one of the story arcs. They were perfectly balanced.

September 1st cannot get here soon enough! I am more than ready to see what is going to happen. If I'm being honest I'm also more than a little scared as well.

My ratings for this series have been steadily dropping. It's super unfortunate, because I was beyond excited to get into the meat of the story after finishing the novellas. Heir of Fire was just a long bore. It's one of those points in a long plot where the main character is suddenly shipped away from all of the action, lots of stuff happens while they're away, then they return and have no clue what's going on. I hate that. Celaena is across the sea supposedly on a mission for the king, but she's looking for her Fae family. Meanwhile the rest of the world is falling apart.

Heir of Fire started off fine. I was eager to see how Celaena would find the Fae, and what she would learn from them. But the more time she spent there, the more bored I became. For being so badass at everything else, she certainly sucks at magic. It doesn't help that her teacher, Rowan, has a crappy method. You know, the one where they don't actually tell you how to do anything? They just poke, prod, and generally piss you off until you explode and do what they want you to do on accident. Yep, that's the way. And we all know Celaena has a temper.

So, while Celaena is kind of learning how to do magic, Heir of Fire also jumps between a few other POVs. None of which I cared about at all. Chaol and Dorian are so dull without her. Like, what is their point?! Well, Chaol is actually doing stuff. I just didn't care. But Dorian? I don't even know. I was so not into his little spoiler. It felt so forced and like it was there to give him something to do, when he should have been doing what Celaena is doing: practicing magical control! Then there's these witches preparing for The War Games, and I was so beyond not caring, that I started to skim these parts.

Heir of Fire was just disappointing. Things started to get good and interesting at the end because that king is an evil bastard, but as a whole, I was bored. A lot of what I was reading didn't even stick with me, because I simply didn't care. This is not the series I was expecting from the beginning.

It felt like I'd been reading this since the dawn of time. Dragged on a little. Loved it for the most part though. Book four is going to be epic.

Reread 2018.
So awesome !! I love reading this again, to have everything fresh in my mind when I continue. Some things I did not even notive the first time.. but now I do, can't wait to continue !!
Very happy that reading this again after a couple of years did not disappoint, but made me love this series only even more 3

I have kinda mixed feelings about this one. It started really slow and I think the book was way too long but then again it got better.

I liked the new characters Rowan and Manon. Those witches are badass! And unlike Celaena who keeps telling how bad she is but fails to show it, the witches are brutal. I loved those early training parts between Rowan and Celaena where they really didn’t get along but then suddenly it all changed. I just hope were not headed that way where he falls in love with Celaena.

For some reason I thought this would be just 3 books in the series but apparently no… I’m too curious to know how this ends so I guess I’m stuck with this series till the end.

I was so happy when I finally got this book, because the cliffhanger in the last one made me very anxious to get my hands on the next book. But then there it was an I started reading it. And I am ashamed to say it took me quite long to finish it. I started it on the 22nd of October and finished it on the 13th of November; which is a very long time for me to read a book, especially one of a series that I love.

It might have been because I was reading two other books at the same time, and because one of them was so exciting that I put Heir of Fire aside to finish it asap; or because I binge-watched season 4 and 5 of Supernatural for a while. But it was not at all because of the book itself, because I just LOVED it. So. Much.

I had really been hoping for a map of Wendlyn, because that was where Celaena (I can finally write her name correctly without checking it, yay) would be for the entire book, but alas, it was still a map of Erilea.. So it was a bit harder for me to imagine Celaena's time in Wendlyn because of the lack of a map, but I did my best! (I am just going to hope that if someone returns to Wendlyn one day, we'll get a map of that land as well *crosses fingers*).

There were some new characters in this book, the three important ones being Manon (who I didn't really like for the majority of the book), Aedion (who I liked almost right away) and Rowan (who I didn't like at all at first, but who started to grow on me while I was reading more). I really think/hope we'll be seeing more of those three characters in the upcoming books, because I just like all three of them; even Manon after the last couple of chapters. Of course there were the usual characters; the King (U G H), Chaol (333333) and Dorian (*wraps in blanket*), and yeah I was just glad that they were still included in this story even though Celaena isn't in the castle anymore.

As for the action, there was a lot of it - both magical and non-magical - and it all made me very excited! There was one particular battle part near the end of the book that made me really happy but also very anxious because I am just not very good about reading how my favourite characters are struggling. Hover to read spoiler. It was just so well written and yeah I just think it's very good because it made me feel so scared at some points.

Because Celaena isn't in Erilea anymore, there isn't a lot of Chaol/Celaena going on anymore, and that just made me really sad. There was one other pairing that made me really happy, but of course, nothing lasts forever and yeah, it just left me extremely sad and also a bit mad at the end of the book.

There were still a lot of POV's, and sometimes it would make me confused especially when it was a scene between Rowan and Celaena, or Chaol and Aedion, because I would have NO idea who's POV it was from; and personally I found Manon's parts a bit annoying at first and I had no idea why they were added in the first place. Near the end, I started to understand and I may have started to like Manon a bit more, even though she is an Ironteeth witch. But I loved Heir of Fire so much, and I just can't wait to get my hands on the next book in the series; I can't wait to find out the title, and what the cover is going to look like and I JUST CAN'T WAIT!

If you love Game of Thrones and Young Adult books, the Throne of Glass series is definitely something you should pick up!

This series really does get better and better.
