Oh wow! This was such a beautiful story! Autumn, Weston, Connor and Ruby were characters that touched me deeply - and I cried so hard. I also felt all the other emotions the characters felt, and I loved it!
I was an actual puddle at the end of Bring Down the Stars, and I pretty much shed a ton of tears when I started this book too. Scott, once again, delivered an stunning story, which took me on an emotional ride.
There were so many big themes explored in this book, and Scott did it beautifully. This book was about second chances, living life to its fullest, and embracing new realities. It was about not giving up and finding your passion. It was about forgiveness and new beginnings. But most of all, it was about love.
I feel really limited about what I can mention, because the whole premise of the second book is kind of spoilery, but I will share some things I adored.
• So emotional! I was happy, I was sad, I was mad, but I was grateful to go on this journey. • Lots of twists and surprises, good surprises. • An extremely satisfying ending with lots of closure. • I got to share so many beautiful and heartwarming moments with these characters, and my heart filled with joy, over and over again.
The first book sort of broke me, but this one put my heart back together and filled it with joy.
The Beautiful Hearts Duet ranks as one of my top favorites for 2018. This duet was typically a read that I don't normally go after. But in the end, we got a beautiful, yet painful read.
By now, I'm sure you've heard about the triangle aspect of this story. And I want to say that, well, it's just really tough to embellish more on that without giving anything away. I promise it's not what you think it is. But for once, I was rooting for every character involved, I wanted all of them to have a happy ending.
We were left with a bit of a cliffhanger and I was having sooooo many thoughts running through my head. I had no idea which direction it was going to go, but as I was making my way through this, I wasn't expecting to have my heart hurt so much during everything that was going on.
Weston went through a traumatic life-altering event while overseas and if anything I came out worrying for him the most. He had huge plans ahead of him, but there was no hard decision when it came to his best friend and brother, Connor. He would always be there for him.
I was mad at Connor for most of this book and I can't say that I'll ever really understand his reasoning for the way he acted after they came home.
And sweet Autumn caught in the crossfires of lies and love.
I hurt for each and every one of them. There were lies, betrayal, love, and even hope. All of them would get a happy ever after, but it wasn't the smoothest nor the easiest journey to get through.
Little by little, more time passed, one truth would be spoken only to have another lie sneaking up behind.
My heart hurt so much making my way through their story, but I put all my faith in Emma to give us a beautiful ending. And that she did.
Infinite love for these characters, their story, and author. I can't recommend this enough and I just loved Emma's story behind this duet. I'm sure it wasn't the easiest to write after everything she's been through, but I'd like to think that this was somewhat healing for her. You can feel the pain, but also strength in her words.
I hope everyone takes a chance on this rather different and completely unconventional love story.
