The cover works with the story. It’s clean and simple which I like.
Initial Thoughts
Book two started right where book one finished off. It was a nice, smooth transition. I really enjoyed the first book so my expectations were pretty high for this one.
My New BFF
Thea used to be my BFF but I found she was less intense in this book. I really admired her for her strength and how she could take care of herself but I found we didn’t see as much of her in this book. That made me sad. I really missed her. She was kind of just the pathetic girl who missed her new friend. She was too sad for me in this book but I wanted to keep loving her so bad. She disappointed me a little.
My Crush
Caden was easily my favourite in this book. I thought it was hilarious how he never admitted that he liked Thea until it sort of hit him. I thought it was great seeing into his mind a little bit because we got to know him a little better. He definitely kept the book light. I thought he was super funny and entertaining. Whenever him and Rain got together I had a good laugh. The only thing that bothered me about him was that he could get a little cheesy when talking about Thea. Their relationship was really cute though.
Writing Style
I think this book was fast paced with lots of action. There was a lot of information thrown at us though but the author made it fairly easy to keep track of everything. Most of the characters were all well developed, except Thea, who I was a little disappointed with.
Closing Thoughts
I really enjoyed reading this book. It was a little short for me, but the author made good use of all her words. I think that it was typical for a second book. First and last books are always great but the middle books have a lot of setting up to do for the final battle. I could tell there was a lot of setting up in this book for an epic battle. I liked the dystopian society that the author has created in this series. I enjoyed that it was an adventure story as well as a dystopian, it made it a little different. I’d recommend this series to anyone who likes a fun and unique adventure.
