It's hard to fall for a hero when I can see him (on the cover) and he doesn't do it for me. The long flowy hair, weird eyes and his need to show off his manly chest does not make my heart go pitter patter. Then, when I meet him and get to know him, I find out that he's betrothed AND uses a blood concubine, I was not jumping for joy. But, not everything is as it seems. Our manly chested hero isn't happy and a cut to the heart changes everything.
The Black Lily is about a woman sick of seeing her friends in service being treated badly by their employers, the nobility, and the ruling vampires. When she becomes aware of people in her community being bled dry, the Black Lily decides to start a revolution. First step, infiltrate the tower and put a knife through her enemy.
Well, things don't go to plan and the revolution gets put on hold. Her blood sings to him and his manly chest makes her heart flutter, so these enemies must adjust their plans. Yadda...yadda... yep...yep...yep... moving on.
Now, the bit that was pretty cool...we get to meet this cool chick called Sirena who lives in a forest with her friends the wolves. I really liked her and I'm guessing the wolves have their own stories to tell and I wanted to know a lot more about them.
I was happy how the story played out, sad that one of my favourite characters was sacrificed and interested to continue and hopefully see justice served.
