Can the embers of their love be stirred into flames?
Though Colton’s firefighting dad had perished while in the line of duty, his heart desire was to follow in his father’s footsteps. In an effort to protect Belle, the love of his life, from potential loss and grief, he walked away from her without ever telling her how he felt. (This part of their story is told in Escaping Reality) Now, a few years later, their paths cross again. . .
Colton was very heroic. His deep love for Belle showed in so much of what he did. Fighting fires for him was not just a little boy dream job he got to play at, it was almost a calling for him.
Clinging to God even when circumstances look to be out of control was something both Belle and Colton had to learn to do. Belle was given a verse at the beginning that she needed to cling tightly to throughout the story.
Fires of jealousy began to burn as well when Colton discovered Belle smiling at another man. The thought of her moving on, despite the fact he never intended to marry, broke his heart.
I enjoyed the book, though not as much as Escaping Reality. While there was action and danger, I was not as emotionally invested. I wish I could put my finger on exactly why this is so I could tell you.
Though the stories in this series are related and share characters, this book can stand by itself, I recommend reading them all for the best experience.
