This book not only focuses on the case that Megan is working on but it also gives us a lot of background on her life. At first, I took a few chapters to get used to the writing style but once I adjusted I was seriously hooked.
Some of the aspects of the case remind Megan of her life growing up. We learn parts of Megan's past through her therapy tapes. Megan's past really pulled me in. Hearing little bits of her past at a time is an excellent way of keeping the reader interested and coming back for more.
The case is a very odd and terrifying one. The story was very difficult to uncover. There were many components to the case and while at first they do not seem related as the story progresses you realise in some horrifying ways that they are.
I enjoyed this book and I cannot wait to learn more about Megan Carpenter and her backstory.
