Key lessons from projects where government-funded renewable energy schemes have been installed in nine schools, colleges and community buildings are presented. Key issues investigated include community engagement, installation, specification, operation and performance. This report also highlights feedback on the grant processes. The case studies provide an overview of benefits and issues surrounding project implementation and how to make sure the system performs in line with the specifications. The technologies covered include biomass, solar PV and solar thermal, wind turbine, ground source heat pump, and wood fuelled boiler, used in various combinations.
