[The Romantic Comedy Book Club]

I enjoyed this book way too much! We were able to get a peek at how Ari, Sadie, and Brynn were doing and got to know Meg beyond the thoughts of her sister Sadie. The back and forth between Meg and Mac was hilarious. They played off each other very well and riled each other up. Don’t even get me started on the heat. You could cut the sexual tension with a knife and Meg’s stubbornness only added to it. Mac’s partner Lance was the icing on the cake. I loved that guy! I don’t know if Sarina and Tanya did a spin-off series where Aubrey, Cassidy, and Lance got their own stories but I would highly recommend it! I’d read Lance’s story in a heartbeat!

 

While the book was a lot of laughs, it had a ton of heart. Mac’s backstory between what happened in college and the rift in his family was a tear jerker. Sarina and Tanya tried to do a mix of humor and drama in Man Card but it fell short. In Man Cuffed, they got the formula exactly right! This book was the perfect ending to the series.

Now this is what I imagine a romantic comedy to be like. I've been struggle to find the definition of one since some books I've read have been said to be a rom-com, but they end up not feeling like one to me.

I can't believe I haven't read from this series yet, but you can bet that I'll be going back to the beginning and just binge-ing all of it. Man Cuffed was such a delight to read!

From when they first met and everything that happened after, I loved every minute of their time together. Not only were these two just simply adorable, they had me laughing, constantly especially Meg.

Man Cuffed is the hilarious story of one out of work actress and one not-a-stripper cop. Meg and Mac are pretty funny and the story is pretty light throughout, and frankly, I needed that.

Meg was instantly likable! She is struggling with an early midlife crisis-she has returned home after failed attempts at acting and relationships. I really thought she was endearing. There is plenty of sparks between Meg and Mac, despite his amorous activities on the balcony with another girl (before he and Meg hook up). I was a little put off by that, but Meg wasn't. In fact, she was kind of impressed by her neighbor!

Man Cuffed gives us the fake relationship trope and I am always here for that! Mac needs a date to his sister's wedding and Meg is willing to oblige! I mean, she is an actress!

In true Rom-Com fashion, there isn't a LOT of angst in Man Cuffed, but there is a tad. Mac can be a bit of a commit-aphob which was a little annoying at times. Meg was kind of the leader in the relationship; Mac was super hot in bed, but out of it, there were times he was a little skittish. She is the one really bringing her a game in the flirting. However, its nothing that wrecks the story! There are plenty of swoon worthy moments to make up for Mac's dumb ones!!

A HOT policeman walks into a bar…

…SHE TRIED TO TAKE HIS PANTS OFF!!!

I can honestly say, that even if I was expecting a stripper to walk into a room, there is NO WAY I would try to take his pants off. That was by far one of the funniest first meetings I’ve read in a wee while. Man Cuffed was exactly the book I needed today. Sarina Bowen and Tanya Eby have again cracked me up, made me sigh and left me thoroughly satisfied. Yes, there were a few curveballs that had me sniffling, snarling and sneering, but mostly, I was reading with a smile on my face.

I have to get something off my chest though…

What the heck is going on with our heroes lately????

This is not the first book that I’ve read recently where the heroine is doing all the hard yards when it comes to the courtship phase. Sure, the hero still brings his *A* game to the bedroom but why the heck are these guys so afraid of LOVE??? What makes it even worse is that these heroes are mature aged men who are over the age of 35. Suddenly, every bloke seems scared of love, commitment and happy ever afters. They’ve been hurt by love and only looking for hook-ups because they’re too scared to put their heart on the line. The poor heroine ends up falling for a bloke that she must rehabilitate first. I know love is hard, but come off the grass, we need another hero like Liam (the hero from Boy Toy) to step up to the plate.

To be honest, when I started reading Man Cuffed I wasn’t sure how it would all play out. At first, I thought Meg was going to be a flighty actress reluctant to face reality. I was pleasantly surprised by Meg and found her to be realistic, sharp and witty. Then, we meet Mac…well, after that first meeting, we mostly HEAR Mac. Meg and Mac are neighbours and they have VERY thin walls. This made me a little uncomfortable for Meg, but soon I realised that Meg was not at all fazed by what she was hearing. It was almost like he was auditioning…and she was IMPRESSED.

So, after my first hesitation, everything was going swimmingly. Besides the little bugbear that I mentioned above, I really enjoyed reading Man Cuffed. Meg and Mac are great characters that I came to love. The additional characters we meet are very funny and I really hope that Cassidy and Lance get a story….OOOOH, maybe they could get a story TOGETHER?!?!? Oh my lordy, that would be funny – Ms Big Brain meets the Cosmo Reading Copper who studies what women want.

The chemistry between Meg and Mac jumps off the pages and I never doubted that they would be perfect together. Sparks were flying after their first touch and when they kiss for the first time, it was electric. It took a while but once Mac admits to his feelings, it doesn’t take long before he’s ready to cuff his Meg to him for life.

I read Man Cuffed in one sitting and I really enjoyed Mac and Meg’s journey to happiness. There were plenty of laughs, lots of sigh-worthy moments and sexy times that left me squirming. Yes, there were a couple of times that I was frustrated, but in the end, I was very satisfied that Meg and Mac had what it takes to make their relationship work forever.

If you’re looking for an entertaining read full of laughs, I highly recommend giving the Man Hands series a try.

It takes a lot for a book to get me to laugh when I'm feeling as down as I was. But the authors managed to have me laughing out loud and completely enjoying this story!
