Proceed With Caution:
This book contains mentions of abduction.
The Basics:
This is the seventh full book of the Ice Planet Barbarians series. It overlaps a bit with Barbarian's Mate, which is when they find Maddie and Lila. You definitely need to, and should want to, read the previous books. This one is narrated by Lila and Rokan.
My Thoughts:
Barbarian's Touch is the longest book the series thus far, but it was still a quick and engaging read. It begins with Rokan and the other hunters heading back to the crashed ship to rescue the women who are in stasis. These women are Maddie and Lila, and they are not happy to see where they are. There's also the minor problem of Lila being Deaf and unable to communicate with anyone except for her sister. She starts off feeling extremely vulnerable and isolated. Very understandable. Especially when she's immediately kidnapped by Hassen and taken away from the one person who can help her.
Barbarian's Touch may sound similar to Barbarian Alien, where Raahosh steals Liz away, but it's not. Rokan immediately goes after them, only to find that Lila ran away from Hassen, and now they both need to head out to find her. Obviously, Rokan is the one to locate the missing woman, and they resonate, because of course they do! Not that they act on it right away because Rokan is a gentleman and he knows that Lila doesn't understand what's going on. What follows is a lot of adorableness as Rokan learns ASL so that he can talk to her, and then a very realistic reaction when Lila is told what resonance is.
Rokan and Lila definitely have gotten the most development of any couple so far and the least sex! They spend a ton of time talking and learning from each other before acting on their feelings. Barbarian's Touch also develops this world quite a bit. We finally get to see more of the metlaks, which are more interesting then they've been described as previously. They also explore some new areas of the planet, that no one seemed to know about. I'm excited to see more!
