This was a great installment in the series. I am a huge fan of Manda Collins style of writing. She comes across as intelligent and thorough in her research into the lives of people in previous times. In this series we are taught about women's rights in her household, especially when abuse is involved. Women were unable to fight back or even complain if there husbands were abusive and if they tried to leave, they were brought back to their owner...the husband.
This story revolved around Georgie and Con. They were first introduced when Lord Con was betrothed to Georgie's good friend Perdita. When Perdita called off the betrothal Con was relieved as he had learnt the he had feelings for Georgie. Con knew that Georgie had been badly treated by her deceased husband and wouldn't jump into a new relationship.
Georgie and Con's relationship was slow to develop. Between Georgie's reservations in regards to a new love and her dealing with threats to her livelihood, it was understandable. Once the connection had been acknowledged I was quite surprised at how quickly they hit the sheets, especially in the house of her employer who also happened to be his aunt.
A very good story that kept my interest from beginning to end. I am a fan of this author and I will definitely be reading the last in the series.
