Levi, you stupid, stupid man! That's how I wanted to start this review off. Uhm, let's just say wow ... definitely not what I was expecting as I was going through Stone. As soon as I started, I was completely hooked wanting to figure out this brooding and rather rude man that has quite a bit of secrets he's holding on to. Max Monroe will keep you on the edge of your seat as we see more layers of this man slowly peel away! Emphasis on the slowly because we barely touch the surface.
I can definitely say that this series is more emotional and ANGSTY (AF) in comparison to their other books. And they do it so well. The hero and heroine have so much depth to them, they're absolutely amazing. In the beginning, I wasn't sure what to feel about Levi Fox. He's the exact definitely of a grumpy bear, be careful not to poke him with a stick because he'll bite your head off and then beeline to the nearest bar to get plastered. He was quite the character that I couldn't wrap my mind around and I just wanted to know the root of why he is the way he is. You'll be able to guess why, let's just say the movie being filmed in the small town of Cold, he has more of connection to that story than most people think.
Ivy Stone, a famous actress that's more than the glitz and the glam. She took her role in this movie seriously, even moving into the home of the character she was portraying. And Levi wasn't happy about that at all. As soon as they first met and learned about why she was in Cold, she might as well as paint a bullseye on her forehead. He wanted nothing to do with her and tried his best to stay clear of her, but well Levi's boss just loves to throw him into the lion's den. Ivy is my kind of woman, the word no is not in her vocabulary, she's persistent and a firecracker! I love this woman and when these two come head to head, they got enough fire to burn a building down. As much as they try to hate each other, the tension is palpable.
But when push comes to pull, Levi might have pushed it a bit too far and that's where I'll restate, "Levi, you stupid, stupid man!". I am completely hooked on this story and I hate that their story is going to be a trilogy because I'm an impatient woman. But thankfully, we only have to wait less than a month for book 2.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
I'm officially a forever fan of Max & Monroe, STONE is on my list of faves for the year!
