В сердечке навсегда. Как я переживала за судьбу Астрид. Как интересно было следить за движением Китти. Угарать над идиотизмом Эдди. И ох уж этот азиатский сленг и местные шуточки, лах! Такого количества деталей и описаний надо поискать, это было волшебно.

Truly 4.5 but Good Reads makes me only use full star ratings. I enjoyed this book and it was one of my favorite books in the series. I wish there had been more drama in this book as there had been in the others. That's why this was not a five star read.

The final book in the Crazy Rich Asians series. Although not my favorite in the series, it does a great job of buttoning up the various stories while still hinting at a future.

A solid ending to a series, which brought me into this OTT world, and often, left me in stitches. I was really happy with the ending Kwan gave to Astrid, because I thought she suffered the most over the course of three books. Kwan also gave Nicky and lovely send off, and I amy have shed a few happy tears for him and Rachel.

Overall: Tons of fun, lots of drama, and even some history. I will miss these crazy, rich Asians.

I am SO SAD this trilogy is over (for now, there were a few loose ends if you ask me...). These books are so much fun to read, and Rich People Problems was no exception, Jumping several years in the future, we're taken back to Singapore as the family matriarch dies, and true colors come out as everyone is clawing all over each other to see who will inherit what. It was truly a fitting end to the series to close out with Su Yi's death, and that we spent so much time at her massive, infamous estate in this last installment.

Backing up, the first few portions of the book follow Su Yi's time on her deathbed, and the reparation of a lot of family relationships between herself and her grandchildren. It was fascinating to learn about Su Yi's history and how integral of a role she played in the war, as she's always been such a god-like figure in this series, and this novel really serves to humanize her. It was touching to see her try to set up her grandchildren for as much emotional (rather than monetary) happiness as she could before she passed, and it really showed a whole new side to the whole Young/Leong/Cheng etc. clan, which was a nice juxtaposition to the insane antics usually portrayed (although there were plenty of those in this book too! Especially with Eddie...OMG).

I also felt like this book spent a lot less time with Rachel and Nick as the previous installments and I found I was able to learn a lot more about other family members, especially Astrid, who I think could rival Nick in terms of being the most prominent grandchild in this story at this point. Portrayed as so perfect and almost ethereal in the first two novels (like Su Yi in a way), she's very humanized and humbled by the misfortune that befalls her in this installment, and I really enjoyed her character arc. The book also featured Kitty a lot which I honestly probably could have lived without (though it all tied together in the end) but it was fantastic to see how Kevin Kwan managed to weave even the more minor characters from the first book into major players later on in the series- it honestly is hard to believe that this is the first series he wrote, as it's done so masterfully!

Overall: I'm going to miss so much about this series: the completely mouth watering food descriptions, the stunning settings from the most private beaches in Asia to the couture lines streets of Paris, the completely outlandish spending (an eye lift for a fish?), the laugh out loud moments (Ed Saranwrap!) and at the heart of it all the completely drama filled family. Though there was a fun epilogue at the end of the novel, I would totally be down to read a spinoff series about the next generation of crazy rich asians- Harvard, Cassian, baby Young, etc. You can bet you'll find me at the movies this August, seeing the film adaptation of this series and all of the craziness and wealth come to life on the big screen.This review was originally posted on Girl in the Pages

So I've heard of Kwan's work of course and was browsing through for an audiobook to listen to at work right away.

I saw this one available and snatched it up quick. Now, here's my confession: I didn't realize this was a by the number series. In my defense, the library didn't have it listed as a series AT ALL. And I was in a rush because I need something to listen to at work. So I haven't read the first two books yet, but I will do so once my holds come through.

It still worked out okay, I didn't get lost or confused with all the places and players. I did wonder why they talked about Rachel being poisoned but didn't REALLY explain why Collette was the one to do it. I was still wondering and really uncomfortable with the glee people felt about Collette's fate because of this.

I will admit to be disappointed by Astrid in the end a little bit. I wanted her to come back being a feminist badass and start saving the world like I damn well know she can.

It didn't take long to get into. The narrator is great with all the different voices, tones, and pronunciations. It definitely kept me going. I didn't want to stop listening to it. I was somehow invested in them with all their fucking bullshit and wanted to see how it all ended.

Beware though lots of talk of food and clothes and cars and fancy shit I don't know shit about and don't fucking care to learn. If you don't want to know how it ends, it's enough to bore you out of the book, TBH.

Every time I was fed up with their rich bullshit talking about billions like nothing and them not doing a damn thing for anyone else, something broke the tension, made me laugh, and allowed me to continue.

But I am still seriously pissed at all the injustice and imbalance with this bullshit and kept thinking, "I can't wait to eat the fucking rich" while reading. Same reason I don't bother with a lot of romance books and shit. But I'm willing to go on reading the series. I will admit if it was a bunch of white people, I'd have fucking quit quick. Setting it in Asia and Britain and Paris etc, keeps it one step removed. If it was like Bill Gates or some shit, I'd be up in arms.

Notes while reading:
~TW suicide & bipolar character. I personally think it was handled well, honest to the reality of it. I've spiraled like that before. People don't get the downside of mania and fall in love with romanticized bullshit.
~SO much Christian bullshit. I wasn't expecting it and honestly hated it like I always do. More tolerable because again they aren't white.
~Pushy AF parents wanting grand kids. Ugh.
~Hilarious shit, including but not limited to: the whole "robbing banks" conversation, "watched the nanny change your diapers", and "Ed Sharan wrap".
~Wasn't as surprised at the will because all the not so subtle hints. Was surprised at the epilogue.
