Evolutionary architecture attempts to evolve form and structure in emulation of the evolutionary processes of nature. It considers architecture as a form of artificial life. This approach has formed the basis for the author's teaching programme for AA Diploma Unit II. This publication records the progress of the unit and their preoccupation with the relationship of computers to architecture. Their approach explores the integration of machine intelligence with built form. The author considers architectural concepts which describe a genetic language leading to a code script of instructions for generating form. Principles of morphogenesis, replication, genetic coding, mutation and selection are all incorporated.
