This book provides students with these abilities. Algebraic Models in Our World is divided into Explorations, each featuring the following: Activity - students develop, learn, and employ the primary mathematics material, working independently or together with peers in class Exploration Introduction and Objectives - necessary background information is presented to prepare students for the activity. The specific objectives of the exploration are also summarized. Exploration Wrap-Up - the findings from the explorations are summarized, and important definitions and concepts are highlighted. Practice Exercises - these provide the opportunity to practice basic algebra skills and extra practice with the tools and concepts presented. Homework Projects - give students the opportunity to apply what they've learned to real world problems and to improve their ability to write about analytical ideas.
