Latin was a very fun language to take in high school. Mostly because when we had our Latin forum, I got to study mythology and take a test on it against hundreds of other people in order to see who was the mythology expert of the district (it wasn’t me). So needless to say, I have a soft spot for Greek mythology. I have also found that my love for Greek mythology has spread to all kind of myths and legends and when it’s implemented into a book, I get very ‘grabby-hands’.

Since Rick Riordan’s success with Percy Jackson, there has been a plethora of myth-related adventures in middle-grade reading material. Lerangis’s Colossus Rises follows along the same vein, except swap Atlantis out for Mount Olympus, and we’ve got yourself a story. In Lerangis’s defense, this is nothing like Percy Jackson and co. And with it having the series name of “Seven Wonders”, Lerangis set me up to have a new series to follow (at least seven books worth!).

Unfortunately, you would have to pay me a lot of money to keep reading the sequels. Shame.
