Dragging.... I instead read another book while I'm still at chapter 3 of this.

You guys, I am in love with Rachel Hollis. If you read my review for Party Girl earlier this year (link above) then you’ll know I absolutely loved the book. It was SO FREAKING GOOD, YO. And I was beyond excitement when I read that it was the first in a series, especially when I knew Max’s book was next. You see Max is the complete opposite of Landon, snarky and facetious to Landon’s sweet and innocent, and while I adored Landon, I knew Max was my girl, because it’s always the snarky heroines who steal my heart. It’s one of the main reasons I want to marry Gemma Burgess, because she writes the most kick-ass heroines.

The title Sweet Girl is a complete misnomer, because it doesn’t in any way, shape or form, refer to Max’s disposition (believe me) instead it relates to the fact Max is a wannabe baker, creating delicious confections that had me drooling all over my Kindle (and you shouldn’t drool on a Kindle, it will malfunction). I’m currently dieting so it was actually really cruel of Max to be making such wonderful treats. MEAN, I tell you. Especially since I wanted to eat every single one of them.

Not only did all the delicious desserts make me drool, but so did Taylor. I have loved Taylor since Party Girl (and for a while I was even shipping him and Landon but that wasn’t to be) and that’s a good thing because him and Max are just PERFECT. I love how Max resists his friendship for soooooooo long, because when she does actually let him in, they actually become awesome friends and I loved hearing about their workouts and the times in Taylor’s kitchen as Max made new recipes for her boss. It’s the type of romance that you just root for from the start, that makes you sigh and swoon and wish they would bloody well kiss already, damn it.

I love when an author can get me completely under the skin of her characters and Hollis does that perfectly. It’s clear from the start Max isn’t a warm and fuzzy person and there’s a very, very good but very, very sad back story behind that. No one should go through what Max goes through and you can see how it’s shaped her as an adult.

This was such an absorbing read. I actually finished it in one night. I knew I would love this book, I knew because I loved Max and I freaking adore Taylor. Rachel Hollis is such a good writer. SUCH A GOOD WRITER. You’re seriously missing out on an awesome Chick Lit author if you haven’t read any of her books. Chick Lit may not be my go-to genre any more, but Rachel Hollis is my go-to author. Miko’s story is up next (Book Girl????) and I can’t wait to see what that brings (LIAM?!?!?!?!).
