Brian was born in Kuala Lumpur, an only child, on 29th October 1918 and lived there until the age of four years when he was shipped home via Vancouver, Canada to arrive in Bridge of Weir in Scotland aged five years. Brian moved to Glasgow with his Governess and was sent to Cargofield Prep School. Brian signed up as a Belisha Boy in 1939, serving in the British Army until discharged in 1945. The family finally moved to Lochfield Farm, Darvel until Brian retired in 1986.
