At the end of Hold the Forevers, I secretly hoped Ash would get his own story. He lost the woman he loved since he was a teenager to another man. Since then, he has been on a destructive path. Now it’s time for him to let go, move on and find love with the woman who loved him since she was seventeen years old. Wait for Always, the fourth book in the Coastal Chronicle series, is Ash’s story, and it delivered a brother’s best friend, friend to lovers. romance which will warm the hearts of hopeless romantics.
Now while this installment can work as a stand-alone, it’s best to read Hold the Forevers first. This would help in avoiding the spoilers within Wait for Always.
Wait for Always serves as a reminder that focusing on the person not meant for you can lead to one missing on one’s true love. Ash Talmadge will learn this simple truth. While on his journey to discovering this truth, he encountered bumps in the form of pain and heartbreak. However, the end made the bumps worthwhile.
Amelia Ballentine has been in love with Ash most of her life. However, she never made her feelings known because of his complicated on and off relationship with Lila Greer. Several times a glimmer of hope shines through, but the timing was never right. At the point when Amelia gave up hope of ever sharing her life with Ash, he finally realizes she was his always. The one he was meant to spend the rest of his life with. However, he needs to convince Amelia that has no intention of breaking her heart again.
I loved how the story moved between the past and the present. Readers receive the history of the hurdles and bumps they navigated to claim their happily ever after. I found it interesting that Ash appeared to be attracted to Amelia from the beginning. However, his obsession with his ex made him blind to what was in front of him. An obsession which took him down a self - destructive path. Ash showed immense growth in this story. He let go of his obsession and put all the issues of the toxic relationship with his ex behind him.
If asked to describe a positive trait for Amelia, patient would be the word of choice. She revealed this trait with Ash many times throughout the story. Not only was she patient, she was a strong, independent, smart, resilient and generous individual. However, she was not with flaws. She made questionable decisions in her personal life, which led to consequences that had her second guessing her desirability.
I have enjoyed all the books in the Coastal Chronicle series but Wait for Always is my favourite. Ash and Amelia made a great match, and I enjoyed seeing how their relationship developed.
