Four books down, two more today. I’m happy to report that we’re still going strong and Sullivan nailed it once again.
I was a tiny bit hesitant going into this book because it’s mostly set on a ship on the sea. See, thing is I come from a landlocked country, so I know nothing about ships or sailing. Sometimes it’s a tad difficult for me to fully get into stories like that, especially when authors decide to hit you with nothing but nautical terms (that I simply don’t understand). Anyway, Michael J. Sullivan made this book so thrilling and enjoyable!
By now I’m convinced that Sullivan could write literally anything and it would be good. I absolutely love The Emerald Storm. It was super thrilling – who’d have thought that you can do so much in such a limited setting? Once again it was impossible to put the book down!
We learn more about Hadrian’s past and I hope the prequel series will dive into some of that. As soon as I am done with Riyria Revelations and diving head first into that! Sullivan really surprised me with many of the plottwists he threw at us and I honestly can’t wait to see what comes next.
Once again I need to point out how awesome the female characters in this series are. They are well-written, they are badass, they are integral to the story and – most important of all – they are not some basic bitch stereotype you encounter in every other book. They are amazing (each in their own right) and I want to be friends with all of them.
