Mindspeak is full of lies, deceit, secrets, and more secrets! Lexi attends the prestigious Wellington School where the children of very important and very rich people are sent due to the extra security and impressive curriculum. It's a school built on secrets. None of the students really know who the others are, as many have fake names, and they're not suppose to ask personal questions. But Lexi has another secret: she can manipulate other's minds. Then she meets Jack, a boy who seems to know more about her than she does, and he also has a strange ability. Soon Lexi realizes that she's not who she thought she was, and is in fact part of her father's controversial research. Someone wants her father's journals and Lexi dead, but the only people with the information she needs may not be trustworthy.

I really liked Mindspeak! As I've mentioned several times before, I love plots that revolve around science! The author doesn't go into the actual science here, but there's still enough that it kept me interested. Plus it helps that I hadn't read a book involving cloning before, although altering human DNA to give special abilities isn't anything new. Lexi's father had good intentions with his work, but it was extremely controversial. Of course there are those who don't like the idea of scientists "playing God" which is why Lexi is in so much danger. She has no idea the extent of her abilities, and no one else involved does either. But there's secret after secret after secret revealed, which allows Jack and Lexi to start piecing things together. They were created for a purpose, a noble purpose, but at what cost?

Of course there was some romance in Mindspeak, and it was just okay for me. It's the typical girl falls for mysterious new boy as they work together to solve some supernatural plot that they're both involved in. And yes, it's instalove. But there's also a bit more going on here that made it stand out a bit. I don't want to spoil anything, but part of it is pretty weird and unique. Unless I'm reading too much into it, but it's interesting.

Overall, I thought Mindspeak was great! Some things aren't that original, but the cloning plot was certainly interesting! It's fast paced, engaging, and there's plenty of suspense. The ending is a bit of a cliffhanger, and I'm eager to know how Lexi gets herself out of that one!

For this book I thought that it was going to be way different than what it actually is. See I thought it was just someone that was made in a lab and then put into someone to grow up as a normal person until her powers surfaced.

At least that is what I originally thought until I got to a certain point and I was reading a part that made me rethink of it. I was actually surprised by it and I didn't mind really that I was wrong since that is a good thing to do. I love it very much.

This book is a really good book and I will recommend it to anyone. I will give it five stars.
