This book focuses on Portia, one of the older sisters, who was most unsettled by her father's death. She was daddy's girl, making all her choices based on what she thought he would approve of. Now, in her early 30s, she is left without a career, education or direction. Momma Summerhill, in yet another attempt to connect with her girls, nudges Portia towards a curator position. This is what ignites Portia and she experiences many new and wonderful things due to this nudge and the channeling of her descendant, the first Lady Amberly.
I loved seeing Portia find herself and fall in love. There was so much hidden beneath her layers, and it was fun to watch that all be uncovered. Jackson was a trip. How can anyone resist a cowboy who loves his momma that much? And speaking of mommas, Lady Jacq is taking her family back one by one. I love that she has taken the loss of her husband and made it into something so positive. This collection of women who we call the Summerhills are quite captivating and I cannot wait to read more of their tales.
The secondary love story also won my heart. I found myself getting a little weepy during that one. Quinn and Meredith are an excellent addition to the "gang" and their story tugged at my heartstrings.
And Luca! I love him more and more with each book. He is a total trip.
The Summerhill books are lots of fun and I can't wait to read Gigi's story next.
