This novel about jet-set low life is from the author of "End of '77" (Chatto, 1986) whom reviewers have compared with Amis, Kerouac and Jay McInerney. The novel begins with the death of a rockstar, Ester, from a heroin overdose, and the story subsequently revolves around those he leaves behind; his widow, his daughter and his biographer, who was the last person to see Ester alive. Strange things happen to the biographer's wife and the story builds up to an unexpectedly violent denouement. The author is twenty-five. Born and brought up in London, he is the son of the novelist, Paddy Kitchen and the artist, Frank Bowling. He has worked as a drummer with seventies' band, The Lurkers and as a song writer and record producer.
