Gail's Family is a sweet novella following Gail's journey to becoming a mother again. If you've read Ice Planet Barbarians, you'll know that Gail was one of the five women that Bek unknowingly purchased as slaves. She was the oldest of any of the women who have been introduced. There's no resonance for her, but she found love and happiness with Vaza, a sa-khui widower. But being surrounded by pregnant women and children has left Gail feeling empty, so when she learns that there's an orphaned baby on the beach, she knows what she must do.
I liked Gail's Family. It was nice to get to know Gail and Vaza better, but reading about a fussy baby and the frustrations that causes wouldn't be my first choice in story. There's some interesting surprises that I never would have thought of, and secretly hoped it would take a different direction. But perhaps that's a bit too kinky, even for this series.
