Just meh. Didn't connect with the characters that much and I thought there were too many plot devices used. PITA ex? Flaky assistant? Brusque detective? Retired brusque detective? They're all there. Not a bad book, but really didn't interest me.

I'm not sure how I felt about it - I think initially I didn't like the main character much. The ex just needs to go away. But by the end of the book, I liked her quite a bit more and I'll definitely read the next book.
