I enjoyed this book but found that the formatting for the Kindle was very bad which made it distracting and hard to read. Many of the paragraphs had breaks in the middle of them. There were also no indications of passage of time or a change of section other than chapter breaks. So you would go from one situation directly into the next, or one conversation into the next without realizing the context had changed. I found I was constantly backtracking to figure out what was going on.

In general, the story was good. It was a clean romance/suspense story for young adults. I liked the characters and was pleased that there was no foul language.

Imagine being a teenaged girl who is constantly under the watch of a bodyguard - for no apparent reason. Your parents are not under the watch of a bodyguard, just you. Would you be frustrated with it? Would you want to break free? Or would you fall in love with the bodyguard hired to protect you?

In Overprotected, Jennifer Laurens weaves the tale of Ashlyn, a 17 year old girl who has lived the majority of her life under strict watch by her parents and bodyguards. While she knows why she is being kept under such strict control, at 17, it is starting to grate on her nerves, as well it should.

Ashlyn is a great heroine - she speaks to all of the teen girls out there who feel their parents are just too strict. While Ashlyn's parents may have their reasons, the reasons are not "reasonable" and so I fell straight into agreeing with Ashlyn about how annoying her being treated like a small child is.

Colin is a great hero - he is the bodyguard who understands why Ashlyn would be frustrated and can see why it bothers her because it would bother him to be treated in that way as well. I do wish there was a bit more background on Colin - we get more background on Ashlyn than Colin, but it doesn't really detract from the main point of the book.

Between being able to empathize with Ashlyn's plight and the varying dramas in this book, I was barely able to put it down. This book is, in one word, amazing. A must-read!
