Half Moon Investigations is a fun and lighthearted middle-grade mystery.

Fletcher Moon, also known as Half Moon because of his height, is a 12-year-old private investigator and has a badge to prove it. He solves all the playground mysteries and gets paid for it in chocolate. He realises that he might be over his head when he's accused of a crime that he did not commit.

Fletcher is likeable, smart, witty and sarcastic and I like his sense of humour. He has a great 'voice'. My favourite character is Red Sharkey. He comes from a larger than life criminal family and while he has criminal tendencies, he's trying to avoid a life of crime. Papa, Genie, Red and Herod Sharkey are interesting characters and I enjoyed reading about their interactions with each other and Fletcher. To be honest, I wouldn't have minded seeing more of the Sharkey family.

This is my third read of Half Moon Investigations and while I couldn't remember the mystery aspect, I could anticipate where things were going. I enjoyed witnessing how everything came together.

I had so much of fun reading Half Moon Investigations and I enjoyed the humour. I recommend Half Moon Investigations to anyone who wishes that they could live their tween detective dreams.
