I had never read a romance book that was not based on a hetrosexual relationship. Not because I have an issue with same sex relationships but because being hetrosexual I like the girl meets guy falls in love it goes wrong and they live happily ever after scenario it always gave me hope that somewhere out there I would find my forever man. So like I said I was nervous and I didn't know what to expect from this book.
I however, loved it. I loved the alternating POV as Melissa changed from Delilah to Ashley. They are both at different stages with their sexuality and both have had very different life experiences. It was interesting to see how this has affected them and their view of the world.
Being heterosexual there are so many things that you take for granted. You don't think about having to tell your parents your sexual preferences. Having to worry about if people will look at you differently or treat you differently because of it. I really appreciated all the hardships that Delilah had to overcome to just feel comfortable being herself around other people. Melissa really captures this in her writing.
I love the fresh, edgy vibe of the Harborside series and I can't wait to read the rest of them.
