Let’s also say I was curious, because how do you write 1960’s-era mob— and particularly the Kennedy assassination— that doesn’t feel cliche from a hundred different movies? So I was curious, and waiting for Lou Berney to do his Lou Berney thing, and he did, and it was poignant and masterful.
Let’s just say that I will almost— almost— but not quite— forgive this book for getting published before the third Shake Bouchon book. And that says everything right there.
