The novel is based on parodies, allusions and puns. It makes lots of parallels with the characters of "Odyssey" (Homer's poem) and uses the colorful language which makes it rich and interesting. The novel was published in 1922, in Paris. Many critics have labeled it as the most important work in the Modernist Literature that has demonstrated and summed the entire movement.
