Authors grow into their voices and evolve all the time, and that's very clear with Christina Lauren. Their newer books are objectively much better than this (writing, plot, character development, etc.). I'll definitely continue trying their new books, but I won't be continuing with this series.

The heated arguments between those two, the sexual tension, how their relationship developed. Well written and really fun to read :)
But the end was just too abrupt, too fast. I was reading it and really had a moment there where I was a bit astonished it was already over. So I stick to the 'I really like it score' and not 'It was amazing'.

There was so much to love about Rachel and Caine. The way she told him off when they met at the bar she works at. How she broke his lateness rule after discovering she’s his TA for the semester. The chemistry and connection they had. It was perfectly imperfect and made it hard not to believe that sometimes you have to believe there’s a reason you go through what you do.
This couple was a great example of balance in a relationship. Despite a somewhat rocky start, Caine and Rachel balanced each other. Despite Caine being Rachel’s advisor at school, they gave each other a support structure that was exactly what they needed. Each became more important than the family they supported each other in. It was amazing to follow and made you believe this kind of relationship was out there for everyone.
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. I haven’t found a Vi Keeland book that I haven’t loved. She’s a master at storytelling and creating characters that you are hard not to love. Caine is professor you’re going to want to meet!

I preferred listening to the audio than reading Beautiful Bastard. Maybe, it's because there's a degree of separation when someone else is reading? The insults don't hit the target as hard. I found that she (the narrator as the heroine) could return the insults better than I was capable of. I guess I could "see" the show of hate turning to love clearer. It wasn't my heart or my career being trampled.
He really was a jerk, but I guess, when you're the boss, look that good and you're admired for your intelligence and charisma, it's easy to be a little self-absorbed.
She probably should have told him to shove it where the sun don't shine...wait a sec, she did, and look at how that turned out.
This was not a very mushy, gushy, hearts aflutter type of read. Eventually, he comes good and steps up to the plate, but geez, talk about leaving it to the last minute. She probably shouldn't have risked her job and reputation but the heart wants what the heart wants.
I enjoyed listening to Beautiful Bastard. The narrator does a fantastic job and I found it a pleasure to listen to. I will definitely go on in this series.

Well, where do I start? Beautiful Bastard is a fun, extremely Hot story... with too strong an emphasize on the physical, for my taste.
Every other page in Beautiful Bastard included some sexual scene. And that is not an exaggeration. I literally mean every other page, or at least every-time the two met. Take out the sexual scenes and you're left with approximately 20% of just plain story.
But don't get me wrong, those were extremely hot scenes...
BUT, that was all there was to Bennett and Chloe, and that bothers me. I don't like books where everything there is between the couple seems to be just physical attraction. It's too shallow for my liking.
I also don't like books where said physical attractions drive them so insane, that, even though they hate each other and are workaholics, they stop being able to think properly about other things, such as their job. So, I wish there would have been less emphasize, and less sex in general, in this book.
