A young genetic engineer, Strig Feleedus, accidentally is mutated partially by his own experiment. His DNA is joined with an Owl and his sadly recently-deceased pet cat. Then he finds another world where there's a fight between different shape-shifters.
It does also feature some notes about pet cats and their control and overall it's an interesting read with some curious characters.

I borrowed this from the library not knowing what to really expect. I am ashamed to admit that this is only the second book by Margaret Atwood that I have read, which is something I should really rectify. The story was great and I really enjoyed the artwork. A nice feature was after the story where some of the concept artwork and ideas for the story were shown. My only complaint is that it came to an end too soon. It seemed like I was just getting into it and then it finished. However, Volume 2 is out soon and I'll have to check it out as well, as I want to know what happens next!
