Romance Schmomance

So who do we have? The beautiful, "broken and empty" Mackenzie Alexa Tillson (Kennie), no thanks to her ex-fiance, Wes, you'll just have to read the book to see what I'm talking about. Forewarning, I would LOVE to punch him in the face! In this book, we go through Mackenzie's past and present self and they are two very different people. A horrible relationship changed what she use to be and since it has been years of being over, she is still haunted by whatever her ex-fiance did to her. Mackenzie has the best support system around her, but she just harbors all the feelings and simply isn't ready to tell any of them.
After 11 years, Mackenzie's brother's (Kip) childhood best friend, Andrew Trey Dean (Drew) returns into all of their lives. Throughout the story, you'll hear Kennie and Drew's past memories, and they're usually in each of their memories. Drew and his brother, Jax, are back into the Tillson's lives, not only is Drew, her crush that she never could forget, he also had feelings for her ... and for a while, apparently.
Kennie and Drew both have things to share, but who is more willing to share what that is?
Man, I love LOVE LOVE this book for many reasons. The characters are all amazing, especially the support cast, and Jax is probably one of my favorites. Kip, being the super protective brother that he is, there's a lot more to love about him as well. Not only did I love the dual POV, I love the constant sharing of their past memories, many painful ones, but there's a few happy ones in there.
I'll admit, Kennie and her constant self-pity was a bit much at times. I had my moments of yelling at her and telling her to get it together, the answers are right in front of her.
And what's not to love about Kennie and Drew's relationship, it wasn't like most books, even though they knew each for years, their relationship had a lot of growing to do. Plus, he's such a romantic, the stuff he does for her ... guys can take a lesson or two from Drew.
Lets not forget the poetry, I loved that addition to the book.
Such a great story and everyone needs to read it!
