This is a wonderfully imaginative story about the way children, whose world is limited to the house, create adventures and excitements for themselves. Abel Grable is home from his travels and he sits by the fire telling his family all about the jungles he has camped in and the rivers he has crossed with only the moon to guide him. One day he decides to write the stories down but it is impossible to find a peaceful place to do it in. Eventually he takes his table into the garden and writes until it is dark. The time soon comes for Abel to go back and find work and the family miss him when he is gone. but the table stays in the gardens and Adam and Noah use it to create their own fantastic outdoor adventures, until one day Adam transforms the table into a moon machine. And then, when Abel returns from his travels the children will have wonderful tales to tell.
