Max Likes Mystery
Woot! I’m so happy to have found this book and series. I started Book 1 of the series a few months back…but didn’t get much past the first chapter. I feel kind of bad now because i really loved it.
I didn’t see much hype on the book before reading it although I did notice that the author was a bestseller.
UTV I really love the setting of the series: in a library and on the beach. Amazing. I’ve read other nautical cozies before but not ones that was library and nautical. I love the ocean and beachy mysteries are my favorite.
As far characters, i loved them. I’d have to say that my favorite character would have to be Watson. He was so snarky and funny, but also very straight laced. I liked the two love interests also, but didn’t read the books before this one so i didn’t really understand the depth of the relationships or the “love triangle”. The nemesis of the story was also written well. I loved Lucy’s personality too. Overall, great characterization.
The plot was very cool. I loved that the story started with the storm. I was originally thinking that a murder happened while people were waiting for the storm to pass, like murder in a locked room….no exactly the plot here…but it’s still a good one. I did figure out the mystery pretty early on…but it didn’t bother me because i was enjoying the story, characters and setting so much.
I’ve already started the next book in the series and also plan on going back to books 1 and 2. I highly recommend this book! Very satisfied.
