Growing up under his punk rocker dad’s spotlight, eighteen-year-old Luke Greenly knows fame and wants nothing to do with it. His real love isn’t in front of a crowd, it’s on the page. Boy, does my heart hurt... in the best way possible.
This book was written for all of the music lovers out there. The ones whose souls wouldn’t be complete without it.
This was ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE!
Those of you who don’t feel like music is “your thing” you may not the the best out of this with its many band & artist references. But, I think you should take the chance anyway, if for no other reason than it is an ADORABLE rom-com!!
And what an absolutely ADORABLE romance! Vada & Luke are everything. ❤️
Ahhhh and I loved the queer rep in Cullen & Zack. Freakin’ precious. SO precious. Not to mention the family dynamics, which were emotional & raw, both in the heart-breaking way, and in the sheer happiness way... and everything in between. It was very realistic, in my opinion; even if the the situation(s) that this novel presented are a far cry from your own, I think a lot of people can still relate.
I’d like to add— I felt like this book was written for me. Music absolutely runs through my veins, and is in every single cell in my body. It doesn’t matter if i’m singing or playing another instrument, or if i’m dancing my heart out... all of it is what I was born to do. This book brought up so many feels I ended up in tears so many times— because I felt truly understood reading this, as silly as that may sound.
I absolutely recommend, ESPECIALLY to music lovers!!! All of the references brought me so much joy!

WHO?
• Luke was this sweet and quiet guy, who was trying to live out his own musical dream. He loved writing music and wanted to be part of that world while staying out of the limelight.
•Vada was a rather popular music blogger, who had already been accepted to one of the best music journalism programs in the country, but she wasn't sure if she could attend the school of her dreams without the financial support of her absentee father.
WHAT?
Though they had admired and crushed on each other from afar, Luke and Vada had never really spent time together until now. They quickly formed a friendship and become each other's "person" to be there as they navigated the messy parts of their lives.
WHY?
There were so many things I loved about this book, and I am not even sure I could pinpoint them. It was a perfect storm of so many of my favorite elements, and Hahn combine them in an impeccable way.

More Than Maybe is told in dual perspectives of both Vada and Luke. Both are connected to the music world in different ways, but both have a love for it that brings them together.
Vada has grown up with a father who while interested in the music world and taught her almost everything she knows about it, still manages to be a terrible father. She lives with her mom who has always tried to make sure she had the best, and her mom's best friend Phil has made it so she has had a good life and opportunities to do what she wants.
Luke has grown up with a rockstar for a father and has managed to fly under the music world radar until his twin brother uploaded something of his without his approval. This creates a whole lot of drama, not only in Luke's family but in his potential love life as well.
Luke and Vada end up working together on a school project, and at an after school job to make their own money. This starts a friendship that might just turn into more if they let it.
Vada is having trouble figuring out how to pay to go to the school of her dreams because of her father being difficult. Meanwhile, Luke is now having to argue with his dad about things and has to stick up for himself against his entire family he feels like. Together they form a team of sorts in trying to make sure the other gets what they want, all while keeping each other at arm's length it feels like at times which creates some tension and hurt feelings between them at times.
Overall this was a sweet story. Luke and Vada are both likable characters and their reasons for doing the things they were doing were very real. Vada having to struggle and get creative for ways to pay for college is a very real problem for a lot of students, as well as the situation between her and her father. It was nice to see that play out in a book and have Vada be able to find a solution of sorts that might make it possible for her to still go to her dream school. Lukes problems while not as serious at times as Vada's were still very real. Him having to fight with his family about what he should do and how he's wasting his potential is another conversation that a lot of teens go through with their parents. Seeing him stick up for himself, as well as the relationship he has with his twin was nice.
I also really appreciated in this book how we got to see parents being involved and supportive at times. I'm loving seeing it in books after years of them being mostly absent in young adult stories. Hahn did a good job of showing the realities of parents and teens in their senior year of high school and the tough decisions they have to make.

Vada is a very bright girl, who has passion for music and becoming a journalist. She has this crush on a boy that has a podcast. He has the same passion for music and dreamy voice. (Her words)
He also records his podcast with his twin brother at her job.
Luke if from London, so you can only imagine the accent. He just had a break up with his ex Lindsey. Since he is "famous" everyone knows about the break up. Luke sometimes wishes he had a more private life. Now that he is single, he can finally work up the courage to talk to a girl that he has had a crush on.
They end up having to do a school project together and it all forms from that. I think that this is a really cute story and I love the song references. The little banter they had with each other. I would highly recommended this story for a cute summer read.
