Summer is for Lovers is the second novel by Jennifer McQuiston. Earlier this year, I enjoyed her romance novel, What Happens in Scotland, Stays in Scotland and with her second novel she solidifies her talent as a historical romance author. It is a tale of friends to lovers. Caroline has been in love with our hero David Cameron since they were children. The tale is beautifully written as McQuiston captures both the landscape and the characters. David is ever the helper, and believes he is helping Caroline secure a good marriage to help her family. Pfft…the fates have decided otherwise and the tale that unfolds was romantic, filled with banter and sweet,stolen moments. Caroline is shy, at times awkward and a heroine you can embrace and cheer for. The story moved at a nice pace, and while not without flaws, (a few minor details towards the end bothered me) I found this to be a a heated romance, filled with humor and lovable characters. This offers the reader a delightful escape and is one I would recommend.
