Me getting this book was a happy coincidence. I hadn't signed up for an ARC but was mistakenly sent one and since I had some space on my calendar I thought; what the hell I'll give it a read. I really wasn't sure what to expect, but boy am I glad that I decided to give this one a go. It was SO VERY good.
The writing was excellent. It was well paced. The plot was engaging and kept me turning the pages. It was funny. It was charming. The sex scenes were hot. I wouldn't say there was a lot of angst or drama (couple wise). There was some OM drama and no OW drama. The secondary characters were fantastic. Kayson's family was a HOOT. I loved his parents and all his brothers. I cannot wait to read all about them (hopefully in upcoming books). I also loved all of Ariel's friends. They were so funny and crazy but in a right way not a psycho over the top way. In fact, they reminded me a little of the Rock Chick group, and if you know me, then you know how much I ADORE those Rock Chick ladies.
Both the main characters were extremely likable. I ADORED Kayson. He was perfect. He was sweet. He was all in the right from the start. He wasn't a saint, but I also felt he wasn't a manwhore. In fact, there really isn't any information about his sex life before Ariel. It made for a refreshing change, and we need more books that focus on the couple without all the unnecessary added details about the hero's past sexcapades. Ariel I loved just slightly less. Mostly because I wanted her to get onboard the loving Kayson train sooner than she did. I understood how her past made that difficult and honestly this is an issue I always have when the perfect hero is paired up with a reluctant heroine. That said, this book was very low on push/pull so I wasn't overly bothered by her reluctance.
Lastly, it was all wrapped up in a lovely ending that had me shedding a few tears. Two HUGE thumbs up from yours truly and I can't wait to see what this author has in store for us next.
