So the book. It's a solid read. 2.5 stars, rounded to 3. The storyline is your standard romantic suspense. The plot is fairly straight forwards and the moves rapidly to the conclusion. No illogical moves or surprising detours in getting their perpetrator. The main character is likeable but nothing special. She thinks critically and beyond have an infatuation for a guy who doesn't give her the time of day, seems relatively smart and capable. I mean I thought she could do better but whatevs. Derek is an idiot but not atypical of the romance genre. He's killed so he is scum on earth, blah blah blah. I didn't see the appeal but it all happens pretty quickly and is relatively enjoyable when overlooking the flaws. Although the characters have sex, there's no raunchy sex scenes - the sex is just alluded to. Writing is fairly solid if nothing special. There were some funny one liners and amusing scenes that had me chuckling. Decent beach read.
