This is a story about two boys who grew up in a rural area of Southern California. Because there were no other children for miles in any direction, the two boys spent every waking hour together until school and remained as brothers their entire lives. This would not have been so unusual but for the fact that one of the boys was a Japanese immigrant and they graduated from high school in 1941, the year of the Japanese sneak attack on Pearl Harbor. Because of a series of unique events and because of the boys' unusual qualifications, they become involved in a covert pre-war action against Japan.
