WTF? This freaking book ate my brain, chewed it up and spit it out. No joke. It’s 9:55am on a Tuesday I finished at 1:00am this morning. I immediately messaged JJ and I kinda freaked out on her over this book. Because, this is the kind of book that I wanted to talk about immediately, with someone that had read it too. I think she(JJ) was kind of laughing at me.

This book has been on my radar since it came out in November and it has been on my TBR list since then. I knew it was different and I was very intrigued by the different reactions to it. Some loved it, some hated it. I stopped reading reviews because, I did not want those reviews to influence my feelings towards it as I read. I did know (as does everyone) that cheating takes place. I took that into account and dove in some time on Sunday night I think and I read it every chance I got.

This book is different. In many ways I like and some I’m not sure about. The parts I’m not sure about are a personal preferences- nothing more. ;) Matthew- well, he is one hell of a character. The blurb says he has a perfect life…blah, blah, blah and I felt like nothing could be farther from the truth! He seemed to struggle to move through a day without making lists or even eating a normal, nourishing meal. But good Lord, the man had one hell of a mouth on him when it came to Hannah.

Hannah and Matt had ridiculous chemistry that was immediate and even though I kinda wanted to smack Matt a few times I really liked him. He was so edgy and yet there was a tenderness to him that I really wanted to see more of. I suspect though, that “tenderness” isn’t one of his dominant traits. Dominance is though. Holy moly, is he ever dominant! I think I found Matt ridiculously attractive and I felt like he needed a hug at the same time. Hannah recognized her need to comfort him, too.

I'm going to admit, up front, that this book had me flip flopping between loving it and wanting to toss my Kindle. But here's why, in the end, I ended up really liking the story. Matt may have repulsed me, repeatedly, with his insistence on calling Hannah a slut (I'm thinking he meant it as a sort of term of endearment, but that just rubbed me the wrong way) but as more of the "broken" Matt came out, the more I liked him and in the end fell for him.

Matt was a hot mess. He hid it well, only showing slight quirks you could pass off, for most of the story. We probably saw them in his work relationship rules with Hannah or how fiercely he protected his identity, but we (and Hannah) were willing to overlook those when he was being dirty and dominate in bed. And when he was being dirty and dominate, I often times found it hard to like Matt. But then Matt's world implodes and his true self emerges. A Matt who hugs stuffed manatees and make you want to hug him. It was hard to reconcile the two, but I found myself liking the broken Matt because he wasn't so course and was more loving towards Hannah.
Hannah was a woman who knew how to push limits. She constantly pushed Matt. Broke his rules. But she knew what she wanted and she went after it. And when what she wanted hurt her, she stood her ground. But she's incredibly loyal and when Matt needed her, she went to him. I give her a lot of credit, because Matt had hurt her terribly and she still went to him and helped him try to put his life back together.

To me, this was one of those books that could have gone either way, but Broken Matt saved the story for me. His hugging his stuffed manatee and trying hard to hold onto his sanity drew me in and wouldn't let go. And it's Broken Matt who will have me eagerly awaiting the next book in the trilogy.

DNF at 21%

Started reading this last night and thought it was ok. Then I woke up this morning angry at the book, hating Matt and how he treated Hannah. How cold he was, and the fact that he was cheating on his girlfriend didn't help.

Found nothing likable about Matt, and his phone sex with Hannah was a huge turn off. Sad I bought this book cause the positive reviews make it sound really good!

My brain is slush right now. I was not expecting to be so absorbed in this story but I was. Now I need sleep but have to go to work..crap!

Here are my initial thoughts...formal review to come later!

I wanted to put it down but I couldn't stop I had to know the story of Matt & Hannah. This book was all dirty and smoking hot at the beginning. Then WHAM I was hit in the face with some serious things that pulled my emotion. This book worked for me in a BIG WAY. There are things happening in this book that would hit my hot button but I don't know how this writer made me not care. I read and no judgement no nothing. I was just absorbed and was soaking in the story of Matt & Hannah. I want to give LOTS of copies of this book away! Anyway I'm so tired I can't even think coherently right now!

Warning this one might not be for everyone. I won't spoil it cause you have to read it for yourself and make your own judgment.
