I'm continuing to enjoy the Georgina Kincaid series with this second book. I have to say, though, that I was hoping for a bit more in terms of storyline progression with this second book. Overall, I enjoyed getting to know the characters a bit better and the plot was good though - so I'm giving this 3.5 stars, as did Anne, who I buddy read this with.

At the end of the first book, I had a lot of unanswered questions about the world and especially Georgina's past. I did learn a bit more about where/when Georgina comes from, but I still want more. And I also learned more about this world - but just enough to add more questions than answers. What continues to befuddle me is how Georgina knows so little about her world. She's hundreds of years old and is just now asking these basic questions?

My other main problem is her relationship with Seth. I like Georgina, I really do. But she is who/what she is, and the result is that she can't give Seth what he deserves. So as much as I would like them to have their HEA, I feel really bad for Seth. Oh - and my only other problem, minor really - there was this drug storyline and Georgina was so angry about it and trying so hard to stop the problem... and then she (1) uses it and (2) cavalierly gives it to someone! Um... what?! It didn't jive for me.

Okay - all my issues aside, I did enjoy the story line. One of her old incubus friends comes to town (oh I'm not a fan of him at all, either btw lol) and he's on a mission to take down the leader of this religious (hate) group. I say (hate) because it's one of those groups that has a thin veil of a message of love and help over their hate speech. And he struggles A LOT to get her to fall prey to him. I enjoyed this story line and it's always good to see someone like that taken down. And the story line with the drugs was actually also very interesting - despite my 1 small qualm - and led to some new understanding about the world.

I am listening to this series, narrated by Elisabeth Rodgers. She does a really good job with the characters, and I think her voice perfectly suits Georgina. I plan to listen to the entire series (at 2x speed), especially if she continues narrating.

I didn't love Succubus on Top quite as much as I did the first time around, but it's still a very enjoyable read. Georgina just won an award for her succubus prowess, she's dating her favorite writer, her long time BFF just moved to town, and life is generally looking up. At least until she notices that the humans in her life are acting strangely and she feels an odd immortal presence. If there's one thing we know about Georgina, she doesn't like to see the people she cares about hurt, whether they're mortal or immortal.

Succubus on Top focuses a lot on Georgina's struggle between her demonic side and her human side. This is most tested by her relationship with Seth which has a lot of ups and downs and is ultimately why I didn't enjoy this installment as much this time. Georgina makes a lot of rash, stupid decisions. I totally get why she makes them at the time, but she knows she's doing something wrong and immediately feels badly for it. I admire her for telling the truth, but I know that she knows better, so I never quite believed these things when they happened. Then Seth kind of loses some personality and essentially doesn't react. He's a quiet guy and thinks about his words and actions before reacting, but I feel like he could have stood up for himself a bit more in that quiet way of his instead of letting her off the hook so easily.

But speaking of Seth and Georgina, there is so much sexual tension! They've been dating for a few weeks with close to no physical contact. They have some close calls, but it's so frustrating (in a good way) that they can't do anything about it! This of course leads to Georgina's questionable decision making, but I still enjoyed the tension. That closing chapter is amazing! It's the best compromise given their situation.

Succubus on Top is a great read, even if I feel like some parts aren't quite believable given what we know about the characters. The drug plot was also a bit silly, but I love seeing how much Georgina cares about her human friends. She won't let anything mess with them!

This series is quirky and riddled with humor as our beloved succubus Georgina Kincaid attempts to have a relationship with author Seth, fulfill her duties as a succubus and handle her day job at a local bookstore in downtown Seattle.

In Succubus on Top, Georgina becomes concerned when her co-worker Doug’s behavior changes and thinks there may be something supernatural at work. Bastien, her best friend and alluring incubus needs her help corrupting a conservative talk show host and her relationship with Seth is getting complicated. All of these threads are interwoven throughout the tale and laced with humor.

Georgina is a complicated succubus and I found myself adoring her even as I was occasional annoyed. She is curious, flawed and has this ability to get things done. She is keenly aware of things around her, and by nature a fixer. Her life is complicated and I cannot imagine not being able to have an intimate relationship with someone when it sucks the life out of your partner. She makes mistakes frequently, but recognizes them and is brutally honest even at her own detriment.

Seth is geeky, socially awkward and for some reason I find him incredibly sexy. These two create intimacy without sex and it has a depth to it that I find endearing and oddly romantic.
Bastien, her bestie is just how I picture an incubus but Mead shows us a softer, more vulnerable side.. Bastien is without a doubt selfish but his impish charm keeps you from wanting to hit him over the head.

Georgina enlists the help of her supernatural friends to determine what is happening to Doug. The case was filled with twists so of course she quickly found herself in danger. Carter, the angel is perhaps my favorite character, and I really want more of this quiet, mysterious soul. Their unique friendship grounds the series and their interactions are filled with snark and humor. Despite how different they all are, I adore that they have formed this kinship and care for one another.

I am listening to this series on audio and feel it is the perfect story for this format. Elisabeth Rodgers does an excellent job of giving each character a unique voice and captures their personalities. This review was originally posted at Caffeinated Book Reviewer

Fun book. Great to listen to while doing other things like exercising and cleaning. Looking forward to the rest of the series. Georgina is a fun narrator.

I remembered little about this book, but I enjoyed rereading it again. I love Georgina, especially how much she cares for the people she considers "hers". She went through a lot of ups and downs in this story. I love her relationship with Seth and how they do what they can to make it work. I'm not looking forward to what happens next book, but I'm glad I decided to re-read this series again.
