Okay, I am definitely enjoying the heck out of this series! If you're looking for a set of fun, funny and fast contemporary ya romances to set your teeth into, these are a fabulous choice!

I loved Harper's story as much as I loved Tia, and Brody is officially swoon-worthy! It was just so much fun being in their world and their relationship, so much so that the hours just swam by and suddenly I was done!

That's not to say I didn't have some moral issues with the story, most of which have to do with the cheating aspect of it. It's not too major, but at the same time it's definitely not "nothing". Now, I'll be honest. It didn't bother me in the story. It didn't detract from my enjoyment, or anything of that sort. But in the back of my mind, I knew I should be bothered.

Echols does a great job making Kennedy, Harper's boyfriend, a douche. I honestly have no idea what a sweet girl like her did with him. He doesn't care about her, doesn't want to be near her (physically), goes into tantrums whenever things don't go his way and his spiteful and controlling. Grace, Brody's girlfriends, I didn't have too much of an opinion on, but she as well is painted unfavorably. So, I really didn't care about them.

But at the same time, I wanted our main characters, the people I did like, to be better than that. I wanted Harper to break up with Kennedy long before she and Brody kissed. I wanted her to break up with him not because of Brody, but simply because he is a jerk. And when that didn't happen, I wanted her to break up with him immediately after kissing Brody because she knew she was cheating, and that that's not okay, instead of waiting until she and Brody were on the same relationship page before doing it. Being far more attracted to Brody and liking him far better than your boyfriend has nothing to do with dating Brody. Once the first happens, you break. especially when you live in a house where the father has constantly cheated on the mother.


But, again, this was something I knew to be wrong but at the same time didn't really make me enjoy this any less. And I really, really, really enjoyed this. I am super excited for Kaye and Sawyer's story since I love Sawyer so much!!

Perfect Couple by Jennifer Echols takes on Perfect Couple that Never Was who turns out to be Harper, the school photographer and Brody, the star quarterback. It’s fun and quirky and I really enjoyed it.

Harper is definitely intriguing. I thought it was interesting how she dressed a little on the quirky side, even making her own clothes in order to imitate a more retro look. Her reasoning is a little different too because she thinks she needs to dress this way to stand out because otherwise she would just blend into a crowd. She isn’t dressing quirky because she is confident it’s actually because she is not. Kind of a different twist on that idea.
Harper also annoyed me at times in the beginning because she was so obsessed with the Perfect Couple matchup/Brody and the way she would let Kennedy walk all over her. She does start to change as the plot develops. Not only does she start to change her looks, she finally starts standing up for herself a little more. Although she has moments of relapse that drive me crazy but honestly nobody changes overnight. I’m glad at one point someone points out to her that she has an obsession problem. It makes it feel like the author has a point for it in the story. You can tell that some of her Kennedy issues of confrontation probably stem from her dad and mom’s relationship.

I liked Brody. He was a little more on the laid back side and not necessarily perfect but he didn’t hide who he was. He didn’t act like he was something he’s not. He felt genuine to me.

Even with Harper’s quirks I really enjoyed the plot. I also really like how the plot of the next book starts getting weaved into the story but if you read the books separately you won’t be lost. I actually didn’t read Biggest Flirts yet and I did not feel lost at all but now I want to just to see how Harper and Brody show up in that one.

I thought the romance was cute. It was much more of an emotional one instead of physical even though you could tell they are attracted to each other.

I’m not a heavy contemporary reader but I really enjoyed this story. I thought it was cute and fun read.

3.5 stars: Perfect Couple is a good relate-able story set in high school. Brody is so different from Harper. He is out-going and loud but when it comes to Harper, he is so sweet. I didn’t like Harper’s character because while she had a boyfriend, she would flirt with Brody and at one point, cheat. That doesn’t sit well with me, even if her boyfriend was a complete a**hole to her.

The idea of getting this complete opposite couple together through the superlatives for the yearbook was a well-thought plan. I hadn’t read a book where this happened and Jennifer Echols really put much thought into it to deliver a great story.

Even though I liked Harper and Brody, the story I am most looking forward to is Sawyer’s story with Kaye. I fell in love with Sawyer instantly and I know his story will be filled with craziness and fun and laughter. If you are looking for a light and fast read, this series is for you. If you haven’t read a book by Jennifer Echols, what the hell are you waiting for?!
