I love Pamela and I was very excited to see her getting her own series. And for the most part this was really good. Shannon Mayer is a very talented writer who always creates stories with lots of action, riveting characters and feelings. But that doesn't always mean we'll like the story. In this case, I loved it right up until Mac was introduced.

I just don't like him. I don't like that he's male. I don't like that he's a shifter that's a familiar. And I really don't like him as a love interest. Because I've invested a hell of a lot of time in this series and my OTP is Alex/Pam. To see her waver from that irritates me. It was unnecessary. I put up with the SPOILER FOR RYLEE ADAMSON love triangle between Faris/Liam/Rylee but I came to like Faris. I just can't bring myself to like Mac. So I loved this book right til the end and even though I still flew through pages trying to see what was happening I was a little disappointed. 4.5 stars, rounded to 5 because this book is still pretty damn good.
