A rural tale about a small boy and his soft-toy elephant. James and his friend Harry, a soft-toy elephant, go everywhere together. In sun, wind and rain, they climb to the top of the hill and back again, and travel from one end. of the farm to the other. After a while, Harry's skin begins to wrinkle and after many bathtimes his jacket shrinks and fades. "What are you thinking?" James often asks Harry, but, of course, Harry never says anything. Every night James tucks his friend in beside him. He even takes him on holiday to the seaside. Eventually, the day comes when James starts school. For the first time, Harry is left on his own at home throughout the whole day, until James returns. "Did you miss me, my friend Harry?" he asks. Then the next day, he takes Harry to school with him. Kim Lewis has also written "The Shepherd Boy" (shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Medal), "Emma's Lamb", "Floss", "First Snow" and "The Last Train"
