★ I enjoyed Artemis Fowl and the Atlantis Complex a little more than Artemis Fowl and the Time Paradox.
★ However, I feel like Colfer wrote Artemis Fowl and the Atlantis Complex just for the sake of writing another Artemis Fowl book.
★ There are some interesting ideas in Artemis Fowl and the Atlantis Complex, but the execution of these ideas are lackluster.
★ Artemis Fowl is suffering from the Atlantis Complex, a fairy illness that has symptoms of paranoia, suspicion, multiple personality disorder and OCD. It's terrible to witness Artemis realise what's happening to him and he can't do anything about it. However, towards the end, his mental state is forgotten.
★ I miss the clever, patronising criminal genius.
★ Orion is too much and it's hilarious.
★ I love the secondary characters - Holly, Butler, Foaly and Mulch - but they don't seem like themselves.
★ I'm glad that Juliet's back.
★ The villain is not so black-and-white, but the way things end is anticlimactic. I can't believe that Turnball would give up so easily after all that he's done.
★ There are loose plot points and things that weren't mentioned in previous Artemis Fowl books came out of nowhere such as the dark fairy magic and runes.
★ The Artemis Fowl series has lost its fairy magic.

By this point in the series I was pretty much just trying to finish it. I think that the 'Atlantis Complex' was an interesting idea but I personally found it to be somewhat random, like the story line was all over the place. Orion was entertaining, but I found him to be irritating and that overshadowed the good.
Once again there was a great underlying story line that was unveiled slowly.
I think it's like the Matrix, Die Hard, Borne, and Bond movies: after about 3 or 4 it's time to put this to rest.

To me this wasn't as good as the past Artemis Fowl books. It probably had to do with fact that Artemis really isn't himself for a good portion of the book so the smart alec genius really isn't all that present. The humor is still there though and I still got a few giggles from the banter and the goofy stuff that Orion was saying. The plot moved very quickly (or maybe I read it too quickly) for my likely really, and it made it seem to be more of a filler episode then I true Artemis adventure. It's still wonderful and there is still a good amount of action, but it just wasn't the same. I do look forward to what Colfer has in store for Artemis' next adventure, maybe more to do with The Project. I can say I'm happy that Opal Koboi wasn't prominent in this though and do wish there were a bit more from that beloved demon N'1. If you are an Artemis fan then by all means read it but don't expect it to be on par with the others.

I was diappointed in the storyline of the continuing adventures of Artemis Fowl. I'm assuming this book is a bridge novel leading to something bigger and better in book #8.

Ughhhhh.

I just don't like this book.

For me, this takes all the things I like about Artemis as a character, squashes them, and replaces them with all the stuff I passionately dislike in a Chivalrous Hero. Holly's downplayed, Foaly doesn't shine in field work at all, and Butler too dampened by concern for the people he loves to be the fearsome Butler I've grown to love.

Juliet's fine. Mulch is fantastic. No 1 is... well, he's No 1.

From a writing and storyline standpoint, The Atlantis Complex feels so far removed from the mood of the rest of the series. At the end of the story, Artemis himself even comments that it feels different than the other ones. For some people, this change may be good; for me, I just kept waiting for it to be done.

To be perfectly honest, I'm also not crazy about the way Atlantis Complex was handled. This is one of the earliest YA/MG examples of mainstream fiction - especially fantasy! - touching on mental health that I can think of. I wish it had been handled with a little less jabbing and more seriousness.
