This book provides a comprehensive discussion of all aspects of evaporates, from their deposition and digenesis, through halokinesis, to metamorphic and hydrothermal assimilation. It goes beyond the usual discussion of depositional textures of anhydrite and halite to include details on all economically significant evaporates, including the various potash, borate and sodium slats. In addition, it deals with all aspects of the subsurface evolution of evaporates including brecciation, meta-evaporites and metal-evaporite associations. It also looks at evaporates in a sequence stratigraphic framework. The book will appeal to advanced earth science students with an interest in evaporates, as well as professional and research sedimentologists and economic geologists. Professor John Warren is a Director of the JK Resources consultancy and currently is on the staff of the Department of Petroleum Geosciences at the University of Brunei Darussalam.
