The misunderstood bad boy with the big heart won me over.

Right before her senior year, Lucy is forced to move to a smaller home and attend a new school. While sunning at the lake one day, she catches the eye of the local bad boy and vice versa. This is a relationship wrought with a lot of starts and stops, passion and pain, mostly attributed to their drama heavy lives. BUT I was sucked in by the dynamic between Lucy and Jude.

Lucy is witty and hopeful, yet candid and honest. Jude is self-depreciating and wounded, yet resilient and passionate. Together, they make a lovely duo.

I enjoyed the ups and the downs, and was satisfied at the end.

Not your typical YA / New Adult storyline and one that peaked my interest so that I'm onto books 2 and 3.

El Extraño Gato del Cuento

Ahora les traigo mi extraña aventura con Crash o como le han puesto en español "El lado explosivo de Jude" ¿No les gusta una buena traducción? Mis clases de inglés se fueron al diablo, en serio. Sumándole a ese desliz una portada en español digna de novela erótica. Luego no se quejen cuando los padres no quieran comprarles libros a sus hijos. No se debe, pero siempre se juzga un libro por su portada.

Con el libro empecé mal, me gusta mucho cuando se respeta el título y portada original, y si los cambian espero que sea para mejor. Soy bastante quisquillosa con esas cosas, además Jude, el protagonista, no viste de negro. NUNCA, y para los que leyeron el libro original sabrán que es por una muy buena razón. Miren, toda la versión en español visualmente es tan “50 sombras”, se supone que es juvenil, de 14 años para arriba, muchas madres no van a querer comprárselo a sus hijas… Bueno, ya paro, esa soy yo haciendo bilis por culpa de la editorial. Basta.

El principio es sumamente forzado. Los cuatro primeros capítulos no logré sentir nada de ellos de manera natural, no tienen gracia juntos, no hay ese encanto de chico malo que se supone gusta. La escritora apuró tanto a que Lucy y Jude se juntaran que olvidó el factor “enamora a tus lectores, también”. Es un insta—love a niveles épicos, la velocidad de la luz es lenta en comparación. Dos o tres párrafos más coqueteando con Jude nos hubieran caído bien, me gustan los chicos malos así que me fue un poco raro que no conectará rápido con él. Mi paz interior se lo agradecería a Nicole.

Lo que sí es resaltante en los primeros capítulos (qué en mi opinión son los más importantes) son los padres de Lucy. Un papá roto y abstraído (me recuerda mis días más oscuros, aún quedan rastros) y una madre furiosa con el mundo (mis días más actuales), con la vida y consigo misma.

Les doy una recomendación: tomen el libro como...

OH MY FREAKING GOD!!! Can I give this book a million stars? Can I? CAN I??? I smiled, laughed, and ridiculously giggled my way through this book. Every other page, my eyes would bulge and I would start giggling like some crazy, mad scientist or something.

This book was freaking hilarious. Two pages in, I knew I was going to love it. Lucy is a FABULOUS narrator! She's super witty, sarcastic, and quick-thinking. Her comebacks are the bomb! I was highlighting every other sentence like crazy because I didn't want to forget all the best funny bits!

I LOVE JUDE!!! He's hot, he's sexy, he's a total bad boy, but he's also a sweetheart. I love how he always stands up for Lucy. He doesn't let anyone talk bad about her and he's always the first to defend her. But that doesn't mean Lucy needs defending. She's not a weak damsel in distress and she could certainly stand up for herself. She's got some serious spunk and attitude and would have no problem telling people off for being douchebags.

I had not worked my ass of for the grades I had, or worked tireless summer days waiting tables, or paved my way as a strong woman to be reduced to some object two jealous boys could fight over.

But man, Jude is the kind of guy you definitely shouldn't want to be with. He's dangerous, he runs in bad crowds, he's a heartbreaker. But Nicole Williams did a brilliant job of making me see that and understand it, but want to ignore it completely. Because Jude had me every bit as weak in the knees as Lucy was! The great thing about Jude is that he's honest. Lucy asks him a lot of tough questions about his past and he always does his best to answer them fully and honestly—sometimes even brutally so.

This man was the pope, president, and god of dodging the topic. Too bad for him he was dealing with the queen, holy mother, and empress of seeing through a man's stream of shit.

This is more of an observation than a complaint, but I thought there would be more ballet in the book; there was actually very little. It wasn't necessarily a bad thing, I think it just surprised me.

I almost don't know what else to say about this book. I loved it so much that I feel like I just want to jump around and mash the keyboard with excitement and have that be my review! I mean, what else can I tell you other than that I smiled, laughed, cried, said "Awwwww" about a million times, and nearly smacked my kindle against my head because I was so excited! This book was so powerful, exciting, devastating, and happy all at once. If I were to really dive down and analyse it, I know I could find faults, but I don't want to. Because in the moment, nothing bothered me in the book. I would just be looking for things to critique if I sat down and thought about it. I loved every minute of reading this book and that's that!

What a roller coaster! First I liked the charcters, then hated them for a while, then found them silly. But by the end I liked the characters, especially Jude. He grew from hating himself and life, to learning that the past doesn't define your future.

Not sure how much Lucy grew, or if she grew at all. But she did learn to stop feeling guilty for the death of her brother. Which is something.

Although I was annoyed at how all the guys were drooling over her, and I'm not even sure if she thought of herself as very pretty. Although she did excert an heir of confidence, and she wouldn't take crap from anyone. Which made her strong.

I felt so bad for her father, a shell of his former self, because of the death of his son and collapse of his company.

A roller coaster of a book, and I'm glad that there will be more in the series. Lucy and Jude had a pretty belivable love story, and I'm glad that Jude grew as a character because of Lucy. I liked that he was protective, but not in the overly creepy Edward way. He just didn't want to see the girl he loved.

Perfect for those who love the cliched troubled bad boy character. If you enjoyed 'Beautiful Disaster', you'll be smitten with Jude in 'Crash'.
