I have mixed feeling about Succubus Dreams. There was a lot about it that I enjoyed - the story was compelling, I got some answers I've been searching for, etc - but I had some frustrations as well - mostly in the main character, Georgina. I buddy read it with Anne and I think she shares my opinion for the most part, also giving it 3.5 stars.

One big positive is that this series is proving very easy to come back to after a brief break and pick up without any confusion. I think that means that Richelle Mead does a good job of dropping little reminders without doing a recap (I find full on recaps frustrating), and that also the characters are memorable.

My big question from the first 2 books was where/when was Georgina born?! And I finally got a concrete answer in Succubus Dreams, rather than the illusions we've had previously. I was so happy to finally have that answer - but it also drove home a frustration I have with Georgina. Well 2 frustrations. The first being, how does she know so little about her world (the paranormal world) after so long? And why is she learning so much all of a sudden? What's changed to make her suddenly start learning about her world when she didn't for centuries? My second is - Georgina is OLD and yet, she is incredibly immature. Not teen immature, but 20s? Maybe because that's the age range she pretends to be so often that it's made her actually that way? IDK, but it's frustrating.

That frustration aside, this story was very compelling. It focused more on her world than the human world - a change from previous books - and resulted in some pretty intense/gut-wrenching moments. Her relationship with Seth also hit some major developments and that was a great part of the read. We got quite a few flashbacks to another period in her life and I enjoyed those moments immensely. And we're really well setup for future books, with some burning questions that could really impact where this series goes. I'm very excited to see.

The narration was again performed by Elisabeth Rodgers and I'm really enjoying her delivery of the characters. One interpretive choice she made was to give Georgina a different accent in a flashback and I thought that was brilliantly done (I don't know if that was in notes from Richelle Mead or all her own doing but I loved it) - it made transferring to that moment in time even more believable as a different life ago. So I look forward to more with her narration as well.

I still cried a little at the end (even though I knew what was going to happen) XD How awesome is that haha.
Much love for this series, it is really a relief how easy I read through this series while having the biggest bookslump in over 10 years :( Onto the next one !!

Why did I read this book: Multiple reasons, first is that I love Richelle Mead, she is one of my favorite writers. Second is that I really like this series, I enjoy the characters and the way the story has been so far. I was also watching some anime and it had a succubus in it, which made me in the mood to continue this series.

Damn, I just loved this book so much. Richelle Mead is such an amazing writer!! I felt so sad after reading this book, after what happened with Georgina. Which makes her such an good writer, letting me feel with the main character like it is happening to me, like I just lost the man I loved and see him being all cute with my friend. Damn.

I had a stupid moment starting this book haha. I was in the mood for this book, wanting to read about succubi. So I grapped the third one in the row, and started reading. But everything seemed so familiar… like I already read it.. but I knew for sure I had not read the third part! So I looked it up.. had I grapped the second part instead XD But after that I quickly started this book 

I got into it right away, with some books it takes a while, but I got right back where I left of with Succubus Nights. As soon as the characters come back they fit right in and I remember again what happened last time.

In this instalment Georgina has trouble with her dreams. When she feeds, goes to sleep and wakes up she is weak all of the sudden with most of her reserve gone. Not only that, but the imp who bought her contract and got her in the succubus business is back in town with a new succubus. Georgina gets assigned mentor over the succubus, who turns out to be completely useless in being a succubi. Apart from that she is still in a difficult relationship with Seth Mortensen, which is getting worse by the minute.

I really ended up hating Seth at the end of this book. I do not get him at all. He has been so good for her, completely in love with her and devoted to her.. and then he sleeps with one of her best friends and dumps her !!! Oké, I did saw it coming that that was going to happen from early on. It was quite obvious.. but still. HOW COULD HE DO THAT TO HER ?!?!?! And not just the sleeping part, but right after that he jumps in a relationship with Maddy.. He said he loved Georgina, his Thetis.. How much can something like that mean if you can get over it so quickly?!?! He really disappointed me.. So done with Seth. Blegh.

Though I do love the drama! It sucks me right in the middle of everything and makes you feel a part of her world. It hurt when he did that to her, when she was all alone at the party seeing the love of her life being chummy with her friend.

Got to love Carter for saving her from that. Oh how I love the humour in this story, the angel burning down the Christmas tree. Ending up with three new ones for this year because everyone thinks she wants one (while she actually doesn’t).
I really like how she intertwined the old traditions of the supernatural with modern times in this series. Like making the underworld much more a business enterprise. Her being a mentor with rules and a guiding book.

I liked how the story came together in the end, how she builds it up perfectly and everything fits. Getting Nyx in the picture and how she put the angels in. There are so many side stories to this, with the love of Vincent and Yasmine, what is going on with Hugh, if we will read more about Dante, what will happen with the new succubus..

Talking about that part! I am sooo curious what is going on with her contract! No way that creep went to all that trouble for nothing.. Who knows, maybe she can get out of it.. do you think she would want that? And… now that Seth is out of the picture, who will be next?

So no surprise, I want to give this book 5 Freyja’s. After finishing this book I was actually sad for what happened. That’s what makes a book a good book, letting you feel with the characters. That is what makes her stories so great, her writing. Maybe her stories are not the most original ones, or the most mysterious, but the way she writes these stories just make you want to read more. So I went on the internet and got the next two books ^^ If you haven’t read these books, I would really recommend them to you!

Succubus Dreams has broken my heart for the second time, even though I knew what was coming! Although I had forgotten how it came about, so I still audibly gasped when these things did happen! Life has continued on as normal for Georgina and Company, except now there's a new succubus in town. And Georgina is tasked as mentor to Tawny who is probably the most inept succubus in history. Then Georgina starts having very vivid dreams which leave her drained by morning, and things with Seth seem to be more tense than usual.

I absolute love Succubus Dreams. Again it shows us just how much Georgina longs to be human, or at least how she aches for humanity. Her dreams, while happy, torment her because they show what can never be. Not to mention that no matter how many men she sleeps with, she can't hold a charge, which makes it harder to keep her lips off of Seth. And he's not making it any easier, because he does want her. Badly. Seth finally has some reactions to everything that is going on with him and Georgina. Obviously, their relationship is far from normal, and that's okay. But they still have real problems which cannot simply be put off on the fact that she's immortal and he's not. As much as I hated their fights, everything said is 100% spot on. I still don't have to like it though.

Aside from the relationship drama, Succubus Dreams also has an engaging plot. Tawny is a pretty humorous addition to the cast, because she just sucks so badly at being a succubus! Then there's the matter of an army of angels being in town, but not saying why. Georgina of course figures that out while trying to learn why she's being drained in her sleep. Very interesting stuff. Then there's the matter with one of the angels, and it almost made me cry! I don't think that happened the first time, but just aahh! My heart.

Succubus Dreams is one of those books that just rips your heart out. It's impossible to not get caught up in these character lives, even the secondary ones. I may know what's coming next but that didn't stop me from feeling the emotional ups and downs once again.

II love listening to this series on audio, and Elizabeth Rodgers really captures the witty, snarky, vivacious character that is Georgina. In Succubus Dreams Georgina is given the assignment of helping a new succubus who cannot seem to woo anyone. This was absolutely hilarious and ended with a twisted twist. Georgina is having strange dreams and as soon as she feeds her live force seems to drain all of which leads to this story's mystery. To top it all off she and Seth are having relationship troubles. Nooo!

The story was intense, but Mead added in her special blend of humor. A thread concerning Georgina’s contract made me oh so curious so I grabbed Succubus Heat the next book in the series with my audible credit. The romance had me thinking- this was the moment they gave in and then curling up in fetus position the next. I love geeky Seth, but he made me angry. Very angry. I cannot wait to see where this series takes us next.

Fans of urban fantasy, snark, and a unique cast of supernatural and human characters will enjoy the Gerogina Kincaid series. This review was originally posted on Caffeinated Book Reviewer

This was just as emotionally charged as it was the first time I read it. Georgina made a lot of mistakes and by the time she realized it, it was too late to fix. I was just as angry at Seth for what he did and how he callously hurt Georgina. I'm really looking forward to finishing my re-reads so I can find out how it all ends.
