Initial thoughts: Some great explorations on the state of gender today, how things came to be the way they are and why women are often viewed and treated as inferior to men. One section that particularly got to me was on health and medicine. I've never really thought how medical research is conducted but to learn that oftentimes medication is tested on male subjects, to the exclusion of female subjects bothered me. Saini went on to lay out the implications and the negative impacts of extrapolated data in healthcare, which I found very insightful.
Towards the end, there were also discussions about primates and the similarities and differences in terms of gender relations compared to humans. These discussions held my interest as much as the rest of the book but I felt that there was a slight disconnect in terms of how that affects women and how they are treated.
