I had a great Sunday afternoon with this book. Each character in this story has a somewhat heartbreaking backstory, but when their roads cross, we get a warm, sweet, and funny romance. I have read several of Van Dyken's books, and she always seems to make me laugh out loud, but she also includes so many sweet and tender moments.

I actually really enjoyed the secondary characters. They were quirky, fun, and whole-heartedly loved Dani. I loved Dani, so by the transitive property, I loved her kooky friends too. I am inspired to go back and read the Seaside books, so I can get the full story on AD2, and am looking forward to finding out more about Zane.

Overall, it was another enjoyable, quick read from RVD. Did I love it? No. Here are my thoughts:
1. She brings in all her characters from the previous Seaside books and Wes and Saylor are in the story briefly too. Oh, and Zane mentions he is related to Nixon. So, it was cool to see her tie all her books together.
2. You don't have to have read the previous seaside series as this starts a new spin off. However, Alec and Demetri play a huge role so if you didn't read the previous books, you might be a little confused at some points or feel like you missed something.
3. The plot is good, Dani and Linc are likable characters, and the story keeps moving without dragging. However, it wasn't amazing, you know? I felt like it was a typical New Adult genre book. Trouble girl meets hollywood hunk. Love blooms.

So, maybe my expectations are high because its RVD. Maybe I struggled with the book because I didn't read the previous seaside series so I had no idea who most of the characters were. Bottom line: its a good NA romance book. If you like NA, you will love this.

This was a cute YA/NA book. I wasn't sure what to expect when I started this one, but it was surprisingly fun.

Seventeen year old Dani had her share of tragedy. Mute due to the after effects of her parents death, she's surrounded by family and best friends who are determined to keep her in their own version of a protective bubble. It's not until she meets Lincoln Green, one of the hot Hollywood stars working on her brother-in-laws latest film, that she finds someone who doesn't treat her with kidd gloves.

Lincoln isn't looking for romantic entanglements, but when he meets Dani there was someone about her that he was drawn too. She was sassy, sarcastic and didn't bow to his Hollywood greatness. She made him feel normal, which he liked. Even more, the liked that out of everyone that looks out for Dani, it was with him that she finally found her voice.

These two were cute together. Their banter, whether over text or in person, was fun. She was awed by his fame and he treated her like she was normal. They each appreciated how the other treated them, even when they were shooting nasty barbs at each other, because they say past what everyone else saw to the real person. It made them fight for their relationship. To understand what they have and know it was something to grasp onto.

My first Rachel VanDyken book was fun. I look forward to more in this series.
